In a school focused on the academic rigor that carries it, many of the skills and talents of its students we felt were being left unnoticed, more so in a city lacking the opportunities to help cultivate such passions. The PINQUE Series aimed to bring light to those talented students who go far and beyond the calling of an ordinary student to showcase his/her talents for the benefit of others and/or for the sake of the art itself. It was a passion project by me and my friends, and while we couldn't go as far as we wanted to given the pandemic, it was definitely worth it meeting talented students who continue to shine to this day.
Daniel Baldono was a very passionate artist who was also academically gifted. We wanted to stick to the "pink-ish" theme with the coloring of the poster, but we also wanted to emphasize her unique artistic skills mixed with her academic rigor through the text in the background and the unique effects added to the edges of her figure (which was actually her idea). We worked closely with her to get the perfect poster that we could all be proud of.
Arianne was a student dancer who was one of the top of her class. Given she didn't really know what the poster was supposed to be, that left us with free rein to design it ourselves. Since we were still feeling out the series as it had never been done before in our school's short history thus far, we opted to go for a dramatic approach with dramatic lighting and a straightforward design to capture peoples' attentions right off the bat.
